Orlando Guitián
Founder & CEO
With over 26 years of telecom industry experience, Orlando is a seasoned IT professional. Orlando has been a pioneer in developing high-volume VoIP software since 2002. As the Chief Executive Officer and a Co-Founder for Smart Carrier, Orlando’s current entrepreneurial initiative with Smart Carrier is pioneering telecom software for companies to stay within the regulatory guidelines for the FCCs STIR/SHAKEN standards. “I have a knack for creating “easy buttons” to enable people and organizations to better use software for compliance,” says Orlando.
Orlando has taken his extensive experience and applied it to co-creating Smart Carrier’s complete telecom compliance management platform. Orlando also spent 8 years working as a software engineer at Fiserv, which is a global fintech and payments company with solutions for banking, global commerce, merchant acquiring, billing and payments, and point-of-sale. During this time, he simultaneously envisioned creating Smart Carrier and worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life.
Outside of work, Orlando loves to spend time making amazing memories with his wife, son, and dog. He also loves to cook, travel and teach his son about his Cuban identity and heritage. Orlando is a first-generation Cuban American. His parents immigrated to the US from Cuba in 1959 and his father instilled a disciplined work ethic and a “no quitters allowed” mentality from a very young age. His parents went on to own several Cuban bakeries in Miami, Florida. Orlando also hopes to instill a similar work ethic in his son by teaching him what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur who also gives back to his community. Orlando spends some of his free time as a volunteer firefighter. Not only is it important to him to bring the most integrity to his family and business, but he also holds himself accountable for bringing this part of himself to his community.
Orlando takes pride in graduating from one of the top private high schools in the country, Belen Jesuit Preparatory School. Orlando graduated with a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Florida International University and also spent time at the University of Minnesota.
